These roast beef sliders are delicious! Slices of roast beef, caramelized onions, and cheese are layered between sweet Hawaiian rolls, which get a savory butter sauce on. Oh, and there is also au jus to dip them in! These are great for parties. Your guests will reach for seconds before they finish their first bite!

Yields: Makes 12 sliders
Ingredients
1 tablespoon oil
2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
⅓ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish, or to taste
12 slider rolls, I used King’s Hawaiian
12 ounces deli roast beef, about 12 slices
4 slices baby Swiss cheese, about 3 ounces
Butter Topping
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
poppy seeds, optional
Au Jus
2 tablespoons butter
2 garlic cloves, chopped
½ cup onion, chopped
2 cups beef broth
3 tablespoons Worcestershire
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1Preheat the oven to 350° F .
2Heat the oil in a skillet and add the onions. Let cook until soft and tender and caramelized for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat to assemble sandwiches.
3On the bottom half, layer the roast beef, then cheese, then spoon caramelized onions evenly over the top of that.
4Brush the melted butter topping over the top and siders and sprinkle with poppy seeds, if using.
5Wrap the sliders in foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10 more minutes. Serve with the warm au jus for dipping.
Au Jus
1Melt the butter in a skillet and add the onions and garlic. Let cook until soft and tender and just starting to caramelize. Add all the other ingredients and whisk to combine. Simmer on medium for about 10 minutes, allowing to slightly reduce.
