I am always trying to come up with meals that my father would like. This French onion soup meets beef pot pie and gets topped with flaky buttermilk biscuits, is a crowd-pleasing and easy-to-make casserole. He loved it!

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 30 mins
  • Yields: 4 Servings

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, thinly sliced

10½ ounce can condensed French onion soup, undiluted

1½ cups Gruyère or Swiss cheese, shredded

12 ounce tube refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Directions

1Preheat oven to 350° F. In a large skillet, cook the beef and onion over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until beef is no longer pink, breaking the meat into crumbles; drain. Stir in soup; bring to a boil.

Transfer mixture to a 9-in. deep-dish pie plate; sprinkle with Gruyère cheese. Bake for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with biscuits. Bake 15-20 minutes longer or until the biscuits are golden brown.
