Chipotle Ham Dip

Just returned from my nephew’s beautiful wedding in the UK. The day after the wedding, we had a casual barbecue. My nephew’s new mother-in-law brought this Chipotle Ham Dip. I have to say, I have never heard of it. After one bite, I was hooked! You know how much I love finding unexpected flavor combinations when traveling, and this one took me completely by surprise. It’s rich, smoky, slightly tangy, and ridiculously addicting—the kind of dip where you keep going back "just for one more chip.” I immediately begged for the details so I could recreate it at home.

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Yields: 6 - 8 Servings

Ingredients

2 cups fully cooked ham, finely diced

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup cream cheese, softened

1 - 2 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely minced (plus 1 teaspoon of the adobo sauce for extra heat)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon cumin

2 tablespoons flat-leaf parsley or cilantro, finely chopped

Directions

1In a medium mixing bowl, vigorously whisk together the mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, minced chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, garlic powder, and cumin until entirely smooth.

2In a medium mixing bowl, vigorously whisk together the mayonnaise, softened cream cheese, minced chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, garlic powder, and cumin until entirely smooth.

3Fold the finely chopped ham into the creamy chipotle mixture until it is completely and evenly coated.

4Spread the dip into a shallow serving bowl and generously scatter the freshly chopped parsley or cilantro over the top. Serve immediately at room temperature with round tortilla chips.

Note

1Chipotle peppers pack a punch. Start with just one pepper and half a teaspoon of adobo sauce, taste the mixture, and gradually add more if you prefer a spicier kick.
