I used to cater a big party on New Year's Eve every year and someone always brought this hors d'oeuvres called Josephina’s. It was one of the most delicious appetizers I've ever had. People inhaled them, or as they say in England - "Hoovered" them up. You've got to try them!

Yields: Makes 10 - 16 slices
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
¼ cup green onions, finely chopped
4 ounce can diced green chilis or jalapeños
1 cup Monterey jack cheese, grated
¼ cup mayonnaise
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 loaf French bread (baguette)
Directions
1Combine the butter, onions, peppers, cheese, mayo, and garlic powder. Slice bread ¼ inch thick, spread with butter mixture. Broil until cheese bubbles.
