I love finding new ways to make a pot roast. There is nothing better than throwing a roast in the slow cooker on a Sunday morning.  This Greek Pot Roast in a Slow Cooker is tender and juicy. It calls for Greek seasoning. You can either buy it ready made or I have included the recipe to make your own.

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Cook: 8 hrs
  • Yields: 6 - 8 Servings

Ingredients

2 - 3 pound chuck roast

2 cups beef broth

¾ cup red wine

1 medium onion, sliced

2 tablespoons Greek seasoning or make your own (see below)

salt & pepper

Greek Seasoning

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons dried basil

2 teaspoons dried Greek oregano

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon dried rosemary, minced

1 teaspoon dried dill weed

1 teaspoon dried marjoram

1 teaspoon cornstarch

½ teaspoon ground thyme

½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

1Place roast in slow cooker on high.

2Pour beef broth and red wine into slow cooker. Add onion. Pour 1 tablespoon of the Greek seasoning into the liquid in the slow cooker and stir to incorporate. Sprinkle the other 1 tablespoon onto the top of the roast. Sprinkle with salt & pepper.

3Cook on LOW for about 8 hours. Increase temperature to HIGH and cook an additional 2 hours. OR cook on HIGH for 6 - 7 hours. If you have time, cook it on LOW for about 13 hours.

Greek Seasoning

1Mix salt, garlic powder, basil, oregano, cinnamon, black pepper, parsley, rosemary, dill, marjoram, cornstarch, thyme, and nutmeg in a bowl. Store in an airtight container. Alternately, blend spices in a spice grinder for a finer texture.
