I will admit that I happen to love Laughing Cow Cheese. I made Fried Cheese Wedges with Everything but the Bagel Seasoning and it was a revelation. Dip them in flour, egg, seasoning, and fry. Serve with crackers.
- Prep: 5 mins
- Cook: 10 mins
- Yields: 6 Servings
Directions
1Put the flour into a small bowl. Whisk the egg in another small bowl. Put everything but the bagel seasoning into the third bowl.
2 Heat oil to 365° F in a large, heavy saucepan. Dredge the cheese in flour; shake off excess. Dip into the egg. Lift up so excess egg drips back in the bowl. Press into the everything but the bagel seasoning to coat. Use a pair of tongs to lower 3 to 4 cheese wedges into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds. Remove from heat and drain on paper towels. Repeat to fry remaining cheese wedges.
3Serve with crackers.

I just love it when very good cooks have secret obsessions with very low-rent foods. I’ve worked with chefs in fine dining joints who had addictions to everything from white American cheese slices to Froot Loops cereal.
For me, it’s fish sticks. About twice a year I simply MUST eat a pound of two of them. With ketchup and horseradish.
I remember when I was about 19 and thought that Laughing Cow wedges were the very pinnacle of cheese sophistication. I’m sure I would have thought your fried version was the ne plus ultra of appetizers.
