Cabbage with Bacon, Onions and Mushrooms

This sautéed Cabbage with Bacon, Onions, and Mushrooms is so simple to make are is the perfect accompaniment to sausages.

  • Yields: 8 - 10 Servings

Ingredients

1 pound bacon

1 large onion, chopped

1 large head cabbage, thinly sliced

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

1 tablespoon white wine vinegar

salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

1Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat until browned. Drain the bacon slices on paper towels; crumble when cooled. Drain all but 3 tablespoons of bacon drippings from the skillet.



2Sauté the onion for about 10 minutes, then add the cabbage, and mushrooms until tender and lightly browned, about 20 minutes, pour in the vinegar. Stir the bacon into the cabbage mixture. Season with salt and black pepper.

You are right. I should have said large pan. I only used a half a head when I made it.

This sounds delicious, but will a large head of thinly sliced cabbage fit into a saute pan??
