Homemade Ricotta

Guest blogger Jessica from Beauty Marks again. I adore ricotta cheese – could eat it out of the container. But why do that when you can make your own? It’s actually far easier than you think, and the end result is sublime. You can use lower-fat dairy products if you want, but for best results, […]

My 4th Year Blogiversary…

As of today, I have writing this food blog for four years.  I have posted 5 days a week, without missing a single day.  That’s 1,062 days.  I do have to thank a whole slew of friends that have jumped in and helped me in the past several months during my surgery and chemo.  There […]

Pineapple Mojito

I leave today’s blog to my wonderful husband Eric, my in-house cocktail aficionado. Fresh pineapple is one of the best of the tropical fruit-well worth the effort to skin and core, light years better than the canned kind (unless we are talking about a pineapple upside down cake, in which case the opposite is true). DIY Garbage Disposal Refreshers

After dinner, I noticed a cookie sheet full of what looked like lovely lemon cookies. As I reached for one, my husband Eric said that Grace had made these homemade garbage disposal cleaners. Chicken Parmesan

My daughter, Grace, has been amazing while I’ve been doing chemo. She’s made many dinners, cleaned the kitchen, organized the pantry, and brought me snacks and cold drinks. She asked me what sounded good (which is basically nothing), I thought Chicken Parmesan might do the trick. She did a great job.   [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:269]

Leila’s Key Lime Cheesecake

Guest blogger Leila from Valencia, CA is filling in today with her Key Lime Cheesecake. Key Limes are smaller and seedier than regular limes. They have a higher acidity, a stronger aroma, and a thinner rind. The name comes from its association with the Florida Keys. There is a Key Lime Pie festival July 4th -July […]

Nesquik-Nutella Ice Cream

Guest blogger Jessica from Beauty Marks.  My daughters are obsessed with Nesquik. This would be normal if they weren’t 17 and 15; as they are, it’s just a weird teen obsession. As they say, whatever. So I had some leftover heavy cream and too much milk handy, and improvised and made ice cream. The result […]

Chicken and Stone Fruit with Couscous

Guest blogger Jessica from Beauty Marks again. My husband and I love any kind of Moroccan-style couscous dish. I had a bunch of fresh apricots and plums lying around that I knew we wouldn’t finish with our girls away from home, so I employed my Google-fu and found a recipe from the BBC that I […]
