Day 8 – My Trip to Japan

Today we were taken to the Kabukiza Theater for a full day of kabuki theater.   The theater is located in Ginza Area in Tokyo.  Kabuki is a classical Japanese dance-drama. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate make-up worn by the performers, which began in 1603.

SANEMORI MONOGATARI [The Tale of Sanemori]

A play about the early days of the rivalry between the Genji and Heike warrior clans.

This matched the curtains in the theater.  I have no idea what it is, but I ate it!IMG_1370 IMG_1371We had a few hours before dinner and it was pouring rain, so our friends took us to the Tokyo American Club for drinks.

We then went to dinner at our host’s favorite restaurant in Tokyo.
