I bought some ground turkey and decided to make a Turkey Caprese Burger. Not only that, but I made some Balsamic, Basil Mayo to go with it. The patties are seasoned with Italian spices, sun-dried tomatoes and topped with fresh mozzarella.
Prep: 10 mins
Cook: 10 mins
Yields: 4 Servings
Ingredients
1 pound ground turkey
1 teaspoonItalian seasoning
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 tablespoons sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced into 4 pieces
basil leaves
4 buns, toasted
Balsamic Basil Mayo
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon basil, finely diced
Directions
1Combine turkey, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, and sun-dried tomatoes in a medium bowl. Form into 4 equal patties, about 4 inches in diameter.
2Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium and add the burgers. Cook for 3 minutes. Turn over and top each with a mozzarella slice. Cover and cook until an instant-read thermometer reaches 165° F, another 3 or 4 minutes.
Balsamic Basil Mayo
1Meanwhile, stir mayonnaise, balsamic vinegar and diced basil together in a small bowl.
2 On each bun, spread some of the balsamic basil mayo, one slice of tomato, a few basil leaves, and a burger.
