This Spicy Honey Sesame Salmon Bites is my new favorite meal. The combination of the sweetness of honey, subtle heat from the chili crisp, creaminess of the avocado, and the crispiness of the rice is just about as perfect as it gets.

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 15 mins
  • Yields: 2 Servings

Ingredients

1 large skinless salmon fillet, cut into 1-inch chunks

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2-4 teaspoons Chili Crisp

1 garlic clove, grated

2 cups cooked rice (I use sushi rice)

Toppings

avocado, cut into chunks

green onions, sliced

sesame seeds

Directions

1In a bowl, coat the salmon chunks with soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, chili crisp, and garlic.

2You can either marinate the salmon in the refrigerator for several hours or let it sit for a few minutes before cooking.

3When ready to cook, heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the salmon chunks in an even layer.

4Cook the salmon on one side for about 3-4 minutes until deeply golden brown.

5Then, flip each piece and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side. The salmon should be browned on the outside and just cooked through in the middle.

6Serve the salmon bites with crispy rice (see below), avocado, green onions, sesame seeds, and additional chili crisp or soy sauce if desired.

Crispy Rice

1Heat oil in a skillet and then add the cooked rice and cook until the rice is browned at the edges, 4 to 7 minutes.

2
Divide the rice, crispy side up, among bowls or plates and top with the salmon, etc.
