Smash Burger Tacos

I am testing a new recipe to serve at school lunch. Smash burger tacos - A culinary fusion of burgers and tacos, smash burger tacos have captivated taste buds worldwide with their crispy patties, melted cheese, and customizable toppings. The process involves smashing a thin, beef patty onto a tortilla, adding a layer of melty cheese, and your favorite burger toppings. This one is sort of a take on a Big Mac. It's everything I thought it would be and more and a lot less carbs.

  • Yields: 4 Servings

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

4 small flour tortillas

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon onion powder

salt and pepper, to taste

4 slices cheddar cheese

Toppings

iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced

dill pickles, sliced

toasted sesame seeds

Sauce

3 tablespoons mayonaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Directions

1Divide the ground beef into 4 pieces. Press each portion on the top of each tortillas, spreading to edges. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

2In a small bowl whisk together the sauce ingredients. Set aside.

3In a skillet over medium-high heat place the tortilla meat side down for 4 minutes. Check for doneness, cook longer if desired. Flip with spatula, top with slice of cheese, cover with lid and turn off heat. Let sit 1 minute.

4Remove from pan and top with lettuce, pickles, sauce and sesame seeds.
