Bourbon Cider-tini

When the dog days of summer make you yearn for the coming of fall, it is time to turn from your summery gin & tonics and embrace the flavors of autumn in a glass. This Bourbon Cider-tini is just the thing. The rich whiskey pairs beautifully with the fresh apple cider which gets a lift from some bracing citrus, all underscored by the comforting flavors of maple and cinnamon. I prefer this on the drier side with just a tiny hint of cinnamon. Delicious served straight up, this is equally as good served over ice in a tall glass, topped up with ginger beer.

Ingredients

4 ounces Apple Cider

2½ ounces Bourbon

1 ounce fresh Lemon Juice + lemon wedge to rim glass

¼ teaspoon ground Cinnamon + more for the sugar cinnamon plate

Maple syrup, optional

2 tablespoons Granulated sugar, for rim plate

Garnish with a Cinnamon stick or rosemary sprig

Directions

1Rub lemon wedge around the martini or cocktail glass until well coated. Then, dip the edges in a shallow plate of the sugar + cinnamon mixture.

2Pour apple cider, lemon juice, bourbon and ground cinnamon into a cocktail shaker full of ice.

3SHAKE IT WELL. This is how you get the ice chips and froth, and also incorporate all of the cinnamon throughout the cocktail.

4Pour into martini glass and garnish with cinnamon stick, rosemary or apple.
