American goulash is a hearty, one-pot dish that's considered a classic American comfort food. It's quite different from its Hungarian namesake. Think of it as an elevated Hamburger Helper. It's made in a single pot or Dutch oven. The ground beef is simmered in tomato sauce, beef broth and seasonings. Then, the elbow macaroni is added directly to the pot and cooked until tender, absorbing all the delicious flavors.

Directions
1Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and beef; cook, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.
2Add garlic, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper; cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Stir in tomatoes and their juices, tomato sauce and broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and cook for 5 minutes.
3Add macaroni and cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until tender, 6 to 9 minutes.
4Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with Parmesan, if desired.

SO good (and even better with a dollop of sour cream).
