Cheesy Chutney Dip
Cheesy Chutney Dip makes a great appetizer. While living in England, one of my favorite sandwiches for lunch was simply cheese and chutney, which you could buy in almost every market. Boots Dispensing Chemist made a particularly good one, as well as Marks & Spencer and good old British Rail. I wish chutney was more popular / mainstream in the United States. Another one of my favorite things I make for lunch is cheese and chutney quesadillas. Two cultures colliding! A true fusion of favors or should I say flavours? Anyway, here is a wonderful dip recipe.

Curried Lentils With Sweet Potatoes, Mushrooms & Kale
I was watching some program on the Food Network Channel, it may have been Diners, Drive-ins & Dives. They were at a restaurant called Tin Shed in Portland Oregon. This was the most popular dish on the menu. I quickly wrote down the ingredients and method and ran to the store. It was so good, I will make this again and again. I bought pre-cooked lentils (at Trader Joe's) a jar of curry sauce and even frozen jasmine rice. It was easy and fast. You could take it to another level and put a piece of salmon on top.

Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower
Cauliflower features prominently on my blog. I looked through my archives and realized I have a thing for cauliflower! I especially like roasting vegetables, probably due to the fact that I grew up in the midwest in the '60s when all vegetables were boiled to a flavorless mush.

Chickpea, Red Pepper, & Spinach Salad with Harissa
This is a wonderful Moroccan salad with a great depth of flavor. Harissa is what my husband calls the ketchup of north Africa. Harissa is a Tunisian hot chili pepper paste made with roasted red peppers, serrano peppers and other hot chili peppers and spices and herbs such as garlic paste, coriander seed, or caraway as well as some vegetable or olive oil for preservation. It is also popular in Moroccan cuisine.

Rolling sushi is not as hard as it seems. I have been making these Vegetable Sushi rolls for years. I learned this recipe and technique from Ina Garten. There are countless YouTube videos, which have many tips on how to do it. I love the beautiful colors of the vegetables.

Sage Potatoes with Garlic
Sage is used in many recipes in the autumn and winter months. I had an enormous amount of sage growing in the backyard for the past several years and now it's all dead! I'm not sure what happened. I live in Los Angeles, where it rarely gets cold. I recently bought a new sage plant. It has about 6 leaves on it, which I used for these delicious potatoes.

Spinach Artichoke Calzones
Make inside out pizza for dinner tonight. A calzone; Italian, "stocking" or "trouser") is a turnover or Folded Pizza that originates from Italy. It is shaped like a semicircle, made of dough folded over and filled with ingredients common to pizza. The typical calzone is stuffed with tomato and mozzarella, and may include other ingredients usually associated with pizza toppings. I added some grated Parmesan to the top....
