Beef Bourguignon with Gnocchi

I was out yesterday and my daughter Zoe called me. She asked if she could borrow the blue Le Creuset pot that was in our garage. I said sure, but it was her Christmas present! She made this Beef Bourguignon with Gnocchi, which looked incredibly delicious! However, she did NOT make it at our house, so I never got to have any! The way the recipe is written looks rather complicated, but in fact, it's fairly simple.

Hatch Green Chile Potato Salad

If you know me well, you know I have been obsessed with Hatch chiles for years. I used to buy 38 pound bags. They only come from the Hatch Valley in New Mexico. They have a very short season, typically from the first of August through the end of September. The Hatch Valley is believed to have the best terroir in the entire world to grow these particular chiles. And, did you know that green chiles contain 356% more vitamin C than oranges? Anyway, I could go on and on.... 

Supermarkets have jumped on the band wagon and are roasting them in their parking lots. I'm all for it. This Hatch Green Chile Potato Salad was one of the Hatch related things for sale I purchased yesterday. It takes ordinary potato salad to a whole new level in my opinion.

Potato Gnocchi

My friend Melanie and her sister Donna invited me to dinner last night to make homemade Gnocchi, which are delicate, pillowy potato dumplings. Their Italian grandmother taught them how to make these wonderful delicious gnocchi. There is a bit of a "technique" to master, but once you get the hang of it, they are easy and fun to make. You can serve with many ways. They served this with simple marinara sauce and freshly grated Parmesan.

Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp is the new craze in condiments. ... It's one of China's, and possibly the world's, tastiest chili oils. Spicy Chili Crisp is the classic, full of crispy onions, chilies and Sichuan pepper bits. It's used mostly as a condiment or ingredient in Sichuan cold sauces. My husband came home last night after a 12 hour flight from NY to LA (long story!), so I made him this Fried Egg on a Bed of Hash Browns with Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp for breakfast. I thought it might wake him up! It turns out it is really delicious and not too spicy.

I was waiting for my husband and my mother who were flying in from New York and their plane was diverted and delayed for about 4 hours. So I made this Artichoke Spinach Quiche With Cheesy Hash Brown Crust for when they got here. It's a great because it can be made ahead. This is the 4th quiche I have used this hash brown crust recipe. I will come clean and tell you that I bought frozen shredded potatoes! I am way to lazy to shred my own. Also, this curst actually has cheese in it! So this makes it gluten-free. Anyway, I love this quiche which has Boursin (an herbed cheese) in the filling.
