Albondigas Soup

Family Traditions
Every Christmas eve, my wonderful mother-in-law made the most amazing Albondigas soup. I still carry on the tradition. She also serves tamales, which she used to buy every year from a secret source in East Los Angeles. I now make my own tamales!

Seared Pork Chops with Shiitake and Enoki Mushrooms

This Seared Pork Chops with Shiitake and Enoki Mushrooms was a way for me to use up extra mushrooms that were leftover from a Shabu Shabu dinner. The original recipe did not have enoki mushrooms, so you can leave those out if you like.

Venetian-Style Pork Cutlet

After watching the Venice episode of Somebody Feed Phil where he goes to a restaurant called Trattoria Da Arturo that has been around since 1968 to have their famous fried pork chop, I decided to make it. The actual recipe for Venetian-Style Pork Cutlet is on the restaurant's website. It's basically a breaded pork cutlet that is doused in a lot of white wine vinegar at the end. It's just simply amazing. I have been to Venice many times and will definitely go to have it at Trattoria Da Arturo.

Shrimp with Pancetta and Rosemary

My husband and I went to Venice on our honeymoon about 28 years ago. We went back several times after that. Our favorite thing to do was eat a big meal at lunch and then at night go to these little chichetti bars that dot Venice. Cicchetti are small, appetizer bites that one enjoys with a  glass of wine at various bacari (local bars). When in Venice is strongly recommend to throw away your map and simply get lost. This is how you find the magic. This Shrimp with Pancetta and Rosemary dish is one of the bar snacks you can also serve it over pasta for dinner.

The combination of barbecue sauce, coconut milk, pineapple and sweet onions topped with spicy slaw make these Roasted Pork Sliders out of this world. The Hawaiian slider rolls are a must.

Pork Schnitzel with Lemon Caper Cream Sauce and Noodles

A schnitzel is meat, thinned by pounding with a meat tenderizer and coated with flour, beaten eggs and bread crumbs, and then fried. Every country in the world has a version of this dish. This Pork Schnitzel with Lemon Caper Cream Sauce and Noodles is absolutely delicious. I served with Trader Joe's Lemon Pepper Pappardelle Pasta. It can't be too lemony for my husband!

Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Mustard-Dill Sauce

Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Mustard-Dill Sauce is great for a summer outdoor cookout. Pork tenderloin is relatively inexpensive and is very low in fat, so this makes a delicious healthful meal. Pork tenderloin and pork loin are very different cuts of meat. Pork tenderloins are longer and skinnier than pork loin and cook way faster.
