Gruyère Cheese and Chive Soufflé

I have literally made this Gruyère Cheese and Chive Soufflé hundreds of times, especially when we were first married. It’s cheap and cheerful, as the Brits would say. I love making things that don’t cost much, but have an air of elegance.

Cheesy Chutney Dip

Cheesy Chutney Dip makes a great appetizer. While living in England, one of my favorite sandwiches for lunch was simply cheese and chutney, which you could buy in almost every market. Boots Dispensing Chemist made a particularly good one, as well as Marks & Spencer and good old British Rail. I wish chutney was more popular / mainstream in the United States. Another one of my favorite things I make for lunch is cheese and chutney quesadillas. Two cultures colliding! A true fusion of favors or should I say flavours? Anyway, here is a wonderful dip recipe.

Mushroom Shallot Tart

Mushroom Shallot Tart

Try this delicious Mushroom Shallot Tart. I used a mixture of cremini, oyster and shiitake mushrooms for this tart.

Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower

Cauliflower features prominently on my blog. I looked through my archives and realized I have a thing for cauliflower! I especially like roasting vegetables, probably due to the fact that I grew up in the midwest in the '60s when all vegetables were boiled to a flavorless mush.

Grilled Broccoli & Cauliflower Parmesan

Here is a great tip for grilling vegetables. By putting a few ice cubes in the foil packets, the cubes melt and perfectly steam the vegetables.

Cheesy Potato & Ham Chowder

While surfing the web, found this recipe on an Indiana Farmer's site (yes, you know you are leading an exciting life when you are checking out farmer's websites!). I have no idea why I made it, because I generally hate soup of any kind. It was really delicious and my husband said we need to keep this recipe in the family archives. I added some white pepper to it, but the simplicity is what really makes this soup good. Some crumbled bacon bits would not go amiss as a garnish...

Turkey Swiss Sauerkraut Braid

One of my favorite recipes is Garlic Artichoke Braid. Here is another take on the same idea. This time using German ingredients.

Classic Baked Macaroni & Cheese

Classic Baked Macaroni & Cheese

Every Monday, I make Macaroni & Cheese for a school, for 11 years. I can only image how much macaroni I've boiled - 10 lbs per week. I guess you could say that I'm fairly good at it. However, this recipe is NOT the school recipe. That one is done on the stove top and this recipe is baked with breadcrumbs. Let's face it, there is nothing better than mac n' cheese.
