Drunken Cabbage

I saw this crazy Drunken Cabbage recipe on YouTube. It's a combination of cabbage, bacon, butter and beer. It can be made in the oven or the grill. The next time I make this, and yes there will be a next time, I might slice it into wedges to make individual portions.

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 3 hrs 5 mins
  • Yields: 8 - 12 Servings

Ingredients

1 cabbage

6 - 10 ounces beer

½ stick butter, cut into slices

salt and pepper, to taste

½ tablespoon garlic powder

red pepper flakes, optional

Directions

1Preheat the oven to 325° F.

2Cut two pieces of foil and lay it out like a crisscross. Place cabbage in the center. Cut 3 times ¾ through and turn and slice down the other direction without cutting through.

3Pour the beer into the cabbage slits, then randomly place the butter in slits of cabbage.

4Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and pepper flakes.

5Place 6 slices of raw bacon crisscross on top of the cabbage, and pull foil over.

6Place in the oven for 3 hours. Open the foil and broil the cabbage until the bacon gets crispy.
