Peanut Butter Chews

This cookie-ish thing
I went to San Marino High School in San Marino, California the ’70s. I hated high school. I moved to California my freshman year and was always an outsider. I still feel like an outsider, anyway, nothing that years of therapy won’t solve….. I digress…. One high point in my time there was a “cookie” they sold in the cafeteria, which also sold corn dogs that had a greenish tinge to them! This cookie-ish thing was called a peanut butter chew. It was very weird and wonderful. You don’t even have to bake these! So for all my SMHS friends, without further ado – the peanut butter chew! (nice rhyming, if I do say so!)
Peanut Butter Chews
Serves 12
½ cup peanut butter
½ cup light corn syrup
½ cup white sugar
3 cups cornflakes cereal
In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, mix together the peanut butter, corn syrup and sugar. Bring to a boil, remove from heat.
Add cereal, mix well and mold into small balls.
