Uncle Russell’s Flank Steak

Uncle Russell’s Flank Steak is the Miller family's go-to flank steak recipe. My brother-in-law, Russell, who got it from his piano teacher. It is best to marinate it overnight for maximum flavor.

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 20 mins
  • Yields: 6 Servings

Ingredients

1 flank steak (1 pound), trimmed

Marinade

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup soy sauce

3 Tablespoons tomato paste

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon oregano

2 cloves garlic, minced

a splash of red wine

Directions

1Mix marinade ingredients in a gallon size zip lock bag and add the flank steak. Marinate for 4 - 6 hours or overnight.

2Grill flank steak 6 to 7 minutes on each side.

3Remove flank steak from grill and let juices redistribute before slicing. Thinly slice meat on an angle, cutting the meat against the grain.

So sorry to hear about your brother in law. It’s so nice to remember our loved ones with a special recipe. Food brings people together. Even Jesus fed the multitudes before anything else!
