Brown Sugar & Bourbon Glazed Yams

These sweet and sticky glazed yams are perfect for your holiday dinner.

Brown Sugar & Bourbon Glazed Yams

Ingredients

4 large yams

Glaze

2/3 cups water

1½ cups brown sugar

4 Tablespoon butter

1 cinnamon stick

¼ teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated

1/3 cup bourbon

1 long strip orange peel

Directions

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2Bake sweet potatoes for 1 hour or until potatoes are soft to the touch. Remove from the oven and cut the potatoes in half lengthwise and put them on a foil lined baking sheet.

3Pour syrup over them and return to the oven and bake for approximately 15 minutes.

Glaze

1While the potatoes are in the oven, combine remaining ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes until sauce is slightly thickened.
