Za’atar Roast Chicken with Green Tahini Sauce

By Leslie Blythe

This Za'atar Roast Chicken is marinated overnight in lots of spices, onions and lemon. It makes the chicken super juicy and moist on the inside. It’s then topped off with Za’atar right before roasting. Za’atar is a Middle Eastern herb blend typically made from dried thyme, marjoram, oregano, sumac, toasted sesame seeds and salt. Variations of this herb and spice blend go back to medieval times and it's common in all the countries of the Middle East. Serve with Green Tahini Sauce.

Pickled Beet, Arugula & Herbed Goat Cheese Sandwich

By Leslie Blythe

I know this probably only appeals to .08% of the population, but I loved this sandwich, mainly because pickled beets are my favorite. The combination of the sweet and tangy pickled beets, the peppery arugula, and the creamy goat cheese is delicious. It's a really well-balanced sandwich that is both healthy and satisfying.

The Original Hollywood Brown Derby Cobb Salad

By Leslie Blythe

From Hollywood’s Brown Derby restaurant and named for its owner, Robert Howard Cobb, the Cobb Salad is the original chopped salad.

There’s some dispute about the recipe’s genesis. Was the first Cobb salad made by Cobb and theater mogul, Sid Grauman, while rummaging through the restaurant’s cooler for a late-night snack in 1939, or, by the restaurant’s executive chef Robert Kreis, who created it for the restaurant’s 1929 launch? Either way, the Cobb is one of America’s longest-standing salad favorites, inspiring dozens of different renditions. The original recipe consisted of a head of lettuce, watercress, avocado, tomatoes, cold breast of chicken, hard boiled eggs, cheese, crumbled bacon and some old-fashioned French dressing.

Parmesan Cheese Biscuits

By Leslie Blythe

When my husband and I lived in London, our eccentric friend Sandra introduced us to these Parmesan Cheese Biscuits. They are very easy to make and unusual. I use mini cookie cutters and cut them into shapes – usually pigs or Scottie dogs. Unfortunately, couldn't find fun shapes for this batch. These would go well with any cocktail.

Japanese Deviled Eggs

By Leslie Blythe

I created these Japanese Deviled Eggs yesterday for a dinner party we went to. The eggs are marinated in soy sauce, mirin, garlic, and ginger. I love experimenting with new versions of a classic dish.

Lemon Mushroom Chicken

I am having a hard time adjusting to being an "empty nester". The only good thing is that I can make things the girls hate, like mushrooms! This delicious creamy lemony chicken is prepared in a skillet and sautéed with mushrooms. This is pretty much a chicken piccata, but without capers and with mushrooms.

The Jermyn Street Irregular Cocktail

The Jermyn Street Irregular Cocktail

There is a classic construct for the perfect cocktail—some citrus for acidity and sourness, a liqueur for sweetness and flavor and a spirit for the body of the drink. This works perfectly for drinks like the Margarita (lime juice, triple sec and tequila) and the Sidecar (lemon juice, Cointreau and brandy). You can ramp […]
